EP.127 - How to Bring Happiness & Positivity Into Your Day with Dr Elena Welsh, PhD, Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Author

Dr. Elena Welsh, PhD received her doctorate degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (a program accredited by the American Psychological Association) and completed advanced clinical training through a postdoctoral fellowship at Gateways Psychiatric Hospital in Los Angeles.

Dr. Welsh has published articles in various medical and research journals and has served as a consultant for state-wide initiatives aimed at increasing access to mental health care.

In therapy, Dr. Welsh utilises scientifically based therapeutic techniques in a compassionate and flexible way that is individualized for her clients needs and goals.  

The primary therapeuctic modalities Dr. Welsh uses are Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Techniques, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills.

In addition to simply helping people live authentic, rich lives, Dr. Welsh works with a wide range of anxiety, mood and depressive disorders, including bipolar disorder, major depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder/trauma-related mental health issues.

Dr. Welsh also specializes in many issues specific to women, including fertility struggles and postpartum adjustment and depression.  

Additionally, Dr. Welsh also has specialised training in conducting psychological assessments for a range of referral questions, including diagnostic clarification, treatment recommendation, pre-adoption screening, independent educational evaluations, or fitness-for-duty.

Many people also seek therapy with Dr. Welsh for specific life and transition issues such as fertility issues, divorce, grief, caretaker stress, substance use issues.

Dr. Welsh collaborates with brands and media outlets that have a mental health focus, to help de-stigmatise mental health issues and making mental wellness accessible.

Dr. Welsh also helps to implement wellness programs for organisations along with integrating mental health into education services.
